Safety guidelines

How to meet, weigh and get paid safely, and how to earn the Safety certified badge.

Scrap deals happen in person, so a little care goes a long way. These are the guidelines from the Trust center. Read and accept them in the app or the web app to earn the Safety certified badge.

Meeting for a pickup

  • Schedule pickups in daylight through the pickup page, so both of you have a record of the time.
  • Meet at the door or in a common area. Avoid letting someone you haven't traded with before into your home.
  • If you are selling alone, let a family member or neighbour know the pickup time.
  • Keep the conversation in the in-app chat, so it can be reviewed if there is a dispute.

Weighing and checking the material

  • Ask the buyer to zero the scale in front of you before weighing.
  • Photograph the material before it leaves your hands. The app asks the buyer for photos too.
  • If the final price per kg changes, the buyer must explain why. Only confirm terms you agree with.
  • You can always ask for changes instead of confirming.

Getting paid

  • Confirm the deal in the app only after you have the money in hand or in your account.
  • For JazzCash and Easypaisa, check your wallet balance in the official app. Never trust an SMS or a screenshot as proof.
  • Count cash in front of the buyer before they leave.

Protecting your account

  • Scrap Exchange will never ask for your password, a one-time code or your wallet MPIN: not by call, SMS or chat.
  • Never share a one-time code with a buyer or seller, even if they say it is needed to "release payment".
  • Report anyone who asks you to complete a deal outside the app.

If something goes wrong

  • Open a dispute from the deal record within 7 days of the deal. See Disputes.
  • Add photos and a clear description. Dispute evidence is private to you, the other person and moderators.
  • If you ever feel unsafe, leave and contact the local authorities first. The deal can wait.

Accept the guidelines and earn the badge

  1. Open Trust and disputes, then Safety guidelines (app: Earnings & trust, then Safety guidelines).
  2. Read them.
  3. Tick I have read these guidelines and will follow them and save.
