Change your password
Choose a new password, and why it signs you out everywhere.
Change your password if you think someone else knows it, or just to keep your account safe. For your safety, changing your password signs you out on every device.
Works in:Android appWeb app
Change your password
- Open Settings, then Security (app: Account, then Password and recovery).
- Select Change password.
- Step 1 of 2: enter your current password to confirm it's you.
- Step 2 of 2: enter the new password twice. It must have:
- at least 6 characters;
- one uppercase letter;
- one number;
- and be different from your current password.
- Select Update password.
You see "Password changed. Sign in again with your new password."
What happens next
- You are signed out on every device, including the one you used to change it.
- Every device is no longer trusted, so each one asks for a sign-in code the next time. See Sign-in codes and trusted devices.
Signed in with Google?
If you signed up with Google in the app, your account may have no password yet. The Security page tells you so.
Forgot your password?
You can't change it here without the current one. Use Forgot password? on the sign-in screen instead. See Sign in.
