Chat, photos and voice notes

Talk to the other person in each offer's chat with text, quick replies, photos and voice notes.

Each offer has its own chat between the buyer and the seller. Use it to ask about the scrap, agree a price and plan the pickup. Messages arrive instantly in the app and the web app.

Type in the box and send. To save typing, use a quick reply:

  • Buyers: "Is it still available?", "What's your final price?", "Can you send more photos?", "When can I pick it up?"
  • Sellers: "Yes, it's available", "That's my best price", "You can pick it up today", "Please bring your own scale"

Select Send a photo and choose one. Use a JPEG, PNG or WebP photo up to 10 MB. Tap a photo in the chat to see it full size.

Send a voice note

  1. Select Record a voice note. Allow the microphone if asked.
  2. Speak. A voice note can be up to 2 minutes long.
  3. Stop the recording, listen if you want, then select Send voice note, or delete it and try again.
  • On the web, recording needs Chrome, Edge or Safari. Every browser can play voice notes.
  • Very short recordings (under about a second) aren't sent: hold on a little longer.

Notifications

You get a notification when a new message arrives. On the web, a message from the other person shows as soon as it arrives while the page is open.

When the chat becomes read only

When a deal is closed (completed, declined or expired), its chat stays so you can read it, but you can't send new messages: "This deal is closed, so the chat is read only".
