Change or verify your email

Verify your email with a code, or move your account to a new address.

Your email address is how you sign in and how we reach you. Verify it so you can reset your password and earn the Verified badge. You can also move your account to a new email address.

Verify your current email

  1. Open Settings, then Security (app: Account, then Account status).
  2. If your email says Not verified, select Send me a code (app: Verify email).
  3. Enter the 6-digit code from the email. It expires in 15 minutes.

You see "Email verified".

Change your email address

  1. Open Settings, then Security (app: Account, then Account status), and select Change email.
  2. Enter the new email address.
  3. Enter your current password, so nobody else can move your account to their email.
  4. We send a 6-digit code to the new address. Enter it. It expires in 15 minutes.

You see "Your email is now" and the new address. Your email only changes once you enter the code, so a typo can't lock you out.

Android app: Account status in the app: verification, the phone signed in, and sign out on every phone.

If the code doesn't arrive

  • Check your spam folder.
  • Check the address you typed.
  • Select Send a new code and use the newest one.
